Located 17 km North of St Simeon in Afrin River valley, Ain Dara is a Neo Hittite site dating back to the first millennium B.C. showing Greek, Seleucid and Arabic remains as well. The Neo Hittite temple dates from the 10th-9th Century B.C. is dedicated to Ishtar, the Semitic goddess of fertility. It is contemporary with Tell Halaf temple.
