Deir Mar Mussa El Habashi

Deir Mar Mussa El Habashi (Monastery of St Moses the Abyssinian) is located on a hill overlooking the desert plains, 25 km east of the city of Nabk (80 km North of Damascus), this monastery dates back to the Byzantine era and was abandoned in the 17th century and restored thanks to the efforts of an Italian Jesuit, father Paolo Dell'Oglio, and the Syrian Catholic Community. The church offers a unique collection of frescoes from various periods (7th to the 12th centuries). 
A new road give an easy access to the foot of the hill then the visitor should climb more than 300 steps to reach the complex.
